It was long 4 years since I came to United States. With my daughter going to school and becoming more and more used to the American way of life, I was concerned that before it was too late for her to adjust the totally new life-style in India, I have to move from here. The incidents on 11th September and few family matters helped me deciding quickly. I came back to India on 5th November, 2001. |

I was almost decided to go back to India in September 1999. At that moment not quite sure where I would be celebrating the new millennium. Will that be in the coast of Australia or in the streets of Calcutta or among millions of people at Times Square, NewYork. Who knew that my fate was tied with my Desktop Computer and like many other unfortunate people I also had to spend those moments anxiously -- suspecting a glitch on Y2K.
Sometime in middle of September, I received a call from one of my managers in US. They asked me if I was willing to join a Project in General Electric at Gaithersburg, Maryland. To be very frank, I was willing to be in US during this time and celebrate the new millennium. I agreed at once. The interview was through and I was heading towards Maryland. [ More ... ] |

It was almost 15 months since I came to the United States. We planned for a break to go to India on vacation. Back in India, my brother-in-law and sister-in- law were getting married in February. So we planned our trip in such a way that we can attend that.
One big difference which we could feel was the pollution of air. Probably a year ago we were used to live in this type of situation, but after living in such pollution free atmosphere we could understand how suffocating was that dust-filled and smoke-filled pollutated air. Probably people living over there have a natural immunity against that. |

My project in New York was over in March end. My company was looking for a new project - anywhere. My apartment lease was going to over in mid-May. I was hopeful for the next phase of the Bank of America Project, but final words were not given. I left my apartment with my family and put up with my family friends in New Jersey. But for how many days it can go on. Thanks to my practice of patience, I got that call. Time to leave New York and heading to Charlotte, North Carolina. [ More ... ] |

When I was very young I used to like the Birthday Rhyme. Thursday happened to be my birthday and it says that Thursday's child has far to go. Believe it or not I used to ask people how far I have to go. [ More ... ] |
